The Mission Statement

Every organization (including a church) needs a mission. This mission should be written, concise, and understood. The mission statement defines what an organization is all about. Who are we? What do we do? How can you articulate this in an easily remembered and articulable phrase? The idea is to create a statement that is clear and specific to the oganization. The mission should live in our heart, be on the tip of our tongue, and lived out in our walk. This statement should not have to be deferred to a written document for later reference, but should be communicated without hesitation. So here’s the proposed Mission Statement for Memorial Baptist Church:

“Connecting with God and people through authentic community, growing in understanding and personal application of biblical principles for life, and serving people by meeting needs through one’s unique ability”

While that’s a mouthful and perhaps most will not place this entire statement to memory, Here’s the shorter more concise version:

 “Connect, Grow, and Serve”

That’s it! It takes just three words to describe our mission. How easy is that? Our mission as Memorial Baptist Church is to Connect, Grow, and Serve. This is what Memorial is about.
