Monday Morning Insight

As I pondered the message post delivery, I want to hit home a significant point about Christ’s example of serving. Living a life of service isn’t event driven but pattern lived. Let me explain. Living a life of service is more than volunteering to help out a couple of church or community events throughout the year. Serving is a lifestyle or life pattern that is demonstrated not only in special events but lived out in everyday life. Jesus’ statement about service in Mark 10:45 referenced a life committed pattern of serving and giving. This is our example to follow.

Just because we volunteer to help out here and there, doesn’t fully live out the example of service portrayed in Scripture. There is a conscious decision that I must make to live my life as a servant – serving and giving. As Paul states, it is an attitude or mindset that must be established in us as we take on the attitude of Christ. While I certainly want you to help out and volunteer for various events and activities, this lifestyle of service goes deeper than planned church stuff. It’s about how I pattern my life when no one from church is watching.

As I seek to live like Christ, may I live my life as a servant – serving and giving.
