You never know what someone is thinking. Today, I ran (okay, drove) into Houston to have lunch with a friend. It had been a while since we’d had lunch together. Got to try a new restaurant – good stuff. Following lunch, I drove over to Medical Center to check on a member who had surgery yesterday. He was doing great – probably the painkillers helped a bit! But, during the conversation something interesting happened. While we were talking about church, the conversation turned to an encounter with a guest who’d visited the Sterling Campus. He shared about his visit and his concern for this family. We talked awhile; I told him I’d follow up. Then it hit me. Here’s a guy that had surgery yesterday and he’s the one in the hospital. Yet, instead of being self-focused (which would be normal for a hospital patient), he was concerned about the spiritual condition of this guest. Wow! He was more concerned about someone’s relationship with Christ instead of his own personal comfort, discomfort, and suffering. How cool is that! I really appreciate Bobby Lintelman – proud of him. And, I’m praying for a speedy recovery.
